Who of us hasn’t fantasized about road tripping to L.A. to have a coffee date with Miranda July? In her feature L.A. Tea Time, Sophie Bédard Marcotte tries to make the fantasy a reality. The film follows Sophie and Isabelle Stachtchenko as they travel from Quebec to Hollywood, hoping to get in contact with Miranda July at some point along the way.

With the hope that leaving the harsh Quebec winter for the bright lights of L.A. might bring some inspiration to them both, Sophie and Isabelle drive through the American landscape meeting a unique cast of characters. Throughout the journey they discuss the all-too-familiar anxieties of being an artist, including finding the right people and resources to create your work and financially making ends meet. —Tori Fleming
