2017 FESTIVAL UPDATE #8: Visiting Programmer Emilie Poirier

As a part of HIFF's 2017, By Invitation program, we are pleased to host four visiting programmers from acclaimed film festivals around the world as they screen their favourite short films to local audiences.

Emilie Poirier will be here from Festival du nouveau cinema in Montréal to present her short film selections, Tout Simplement by Raphaël Ouellet and The Ghost and the Garden by Nelson Roubert.

Emilie Poirier holds a B.A in political science from UQÀM (2010) and a certificate in art history from Université de Montréal (2014). She is currently writing her master thesis in Art History at Université de Montréal. She is particularly interested in modern and contemporary art, photography and cinema in relation to its social, political and economical contexts. She is also interested in gender studies, sociology of art, film theory, cultural and postcolonial studies and critical theory. As of 2017, she joins the ranks of the Festival du nouveau cinema as the short film programming coordinator/curator.

Join us at By Invitation on Friday, June 9th at 9pm at Neptune to see Emilie's picks and stay for the Q+A session following the screening to learn more about FNC!
